Al's Rantings

A view of the world from a hillbilly perspective.

Location: Virginia

I was born and went to school in the heart of the Appalachian mountains, in southern West Virginia. After graduating from college, I got married, and began working in Bristol, TN. I have have various jobs from Tennessee to up state New York and a few points between. Now I work in West Virginia. Some day, I want to live in Alaska.

It' beginning to look a lot like..........Halloween

In Giles county, there is still a lot of color on the mountains.

But, a grass level view of the setting sun show a complete lack of leaves on some of the trees.

Little One had a "thing" tonight. A pre-Halloween party at the church our neighbors attend. She went as a witch, but she was a good witch.

Pumpkin carving time on Al's hill. I am responsible for the "old school" design. Kids were responsible for the two new designs of "raccoon and pumpkin" and "Dora the Explorer". This Dora is new to me. I seen the cartoon and read some books. In each case, Spanish words are introduced. Seem the idea is to get kids to be bilingual instead of teaching everyone English (or my preference of hillbilly). But I will rant about this another time.
